How does your support help?
Since athletes are never charged a fee to compete, your support is greatly appreciated.
Persons with intellectual disabilities involved in Special Olympics Arizona participate as athletes, coaches, officials, public speakers, staff and volunteers. Their participation in Special Olympics allows them to gain respect and acceptance. Special Olympics present each athlete the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and share their unique talents with family, friends and the community.
Your support impacts:
- Special Olympics Athletes-Assisting those with intellectual disabilities compete (172 events-24 sports) all year long (totally free) and enjoy the thrill of competition. We currently have 9,000 athletes!
- Families-Providing additional hope and encouragement that each athlete can compete and enjoy sports (24 sports) like other child and adults in their families.
- Coaches-Who, in turn, pass on their expertise and inspiration to the athletes. Presently, Special Olympics Arizona has over 500 coaches.
- Volunteers-Once someone volunteers at Special Olympics Arizona the seeds of care and kindness have been planted, just ask any of our 5,000 volunteers!
