Fundraising Tools for Your Event…

SOAZ is very fortunate to partner with many organizations and community groups throughout the state, from Tucson to Flagstaff and from Yuma to Show Low, in order to develop third party fundraisers of all sizes to benefit our athletes.  SOAZ has developed various assistance tools to help you with your event.  We feel very fortunate to have many organizations decide to volunteer their effort in having an event to raise donations for our athletes.  To that end we would like to be your partner in helping you have a very successful event.  Over the past several years we have assisted in organizing for our volunteer partner’s golf tournaments, bowling events,

motorcycle rides, auctions and many other events.   

Some specific tools SOAZ has to help you:

• Online registration for your event
• Friend to Friend giving to help event participates receive support from others
• Event Manual for various types of fundraising events
• Staff availability to help walk through event
• Public Relations support to assist in getting local media support.

Let us give you a couple examples of how we helped a third party fundraiser:

Golf Tournaments...

There is a major corporation in the valley that holds a golf tournament every year to benefit Special Olympics Arizona. Last year this corporation was able to fill each foursome and secured many of the hole and additional sponsors through their vendors and business relationships.  SOAZ handled all the registrations, many of the auction items, assisted with the planning, secured athletes for the event and helped staff the event.  Through the partnership this event was successful financially, involved our athletes, and increased awareness.

Motorcycle Rallies...

For the second year, a motorcycle dealer held a road rally to benefit SOAZ.  They send out invitations in their newsletter and their dealership was being point for the rally with breakfast.  SOAZ came and did all the registration, provide some of door prizes, handled most of the public relationships and provide other services.  Next year we anticipate in this partnership to grow it to the next level.

Special Olympics Arizona this year!  The money will buy equipment, uniforms, medals and helps to provide transportation to competitions for our athletes!

In Kind Donations

Special Olympics Arizona strives to deliver and provide quality sports training and competitions to individuals with intellectual disabilities.  To do this requires the generous support from corporations, foundations and individuals across Arizona.

Office equipment such as computers, printers, and cameras are high on the list of needs, but sometimes out of reach financially.  Likewise, athletic equipment such as uniforms, soccer balls, nets, basketballs, sports apparel, softball equipment of all types and many other types of equipment is needed to satisfy the 9,000+ athletes needing them for training and competition.  It is through the generosity of corporations, service clubs, churches, individuals and others that help satisfy this special need as they are encouraged to donate any new or used office or athletic equipment to Special Olympics Arizona.

It is through this type of support that allows all athletes to participate at no charge in the sport(s) of their choice.  Like monetary donations, in-kind gifts are tax deductible.

Establish a Memorial or Honorarium

Special Olympics Arizona is honored to be the recipient of memorials that pay tribute to the life accomplishments of an individual – to loved ones that have given us strength, shared our love and left caring moments and memories in the lives of others.

Special Olympics Arizona is also proud to receive contributions that honor an individual or group, perhaps signifying “Special Olympics Spirit” that they, too, achieve in their daily lives.  Memorial and honorary gifts are recognized with an acknowledgement letter to the donor as well as to the “next of kin” or designated family member.

Please provide acknowledgement information with your contribution. Checks should be made out to Special Olympics Arizona, accompanied by a note or letter with the correct spelling of the memorial or honorarium. Please include the name and address of the individual to whom acknowledgement of the gift should be made.
