Torch Run Legs

This year's Arizona Torch Run began in seven locations across the state starting on April 27th-May 1st, 2014.

These seven flames were carried throughout Arizona, culminating with the lighting of the torch at the Special Olympics Summer Games.

This year, there were over 3,898 law enforcement personnel and 106 agencies including the bordering country of Mexico’s Police Department who participanted in the 7 legs of the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run week. There were individuals who ran, walked, cycled and even kayaked their portion of the run. Many Special Olympics athletes joined law enforcement in their part of the run along with various schools and businesses throughout the state who cheered on their local law enforcement supporting their community. The entire week was dedicated to the build up of the Final Leg Run on Friday, May 2nd. There were over 100 runners from throughout the state who participated in running 7 miles from the Wesley Memorial Bolin Plaza to Grand Canyon University to bring in the torch lighting the cauldron to officially open up the Special Olympics state summer games!

We had received a lot of phenomenal snapshot moments of the Torch Run throughout the state, all of which are on our flickr account here

But, we wanted to make it a little more interesting!
